Volunteers play a very important role at St. Mary Catholic Elementary School. Volunteers may assist in classrooms or in the library, act as chaperones on class trips and excursions, organize hot lunches, or become involved with activities planned by the Catholic School Council, which is also made up of volunteers. Volunteers also assist children with reading, help out at our annual BBQ's, etc.
Criminal Records Check/Vulnerable Sector Check: All volunteers must submit a Criminal Records Check and a Vulnerable Sector Check as required by the School Board.

We can only accept CRV/VSC that have been completed within 6 months of applying to volunteer. If yours is older than this, you are to follow the steps below.
Interested volunteers can contact the office (705-324-3113) for a volunteer letter signed by our Principal to give to the police department.
You need to take the volunteer letter to the police department in your area and request a Criminal Records Check and a Vulnerable Sector Check.
Return the completed Criminal Records Check and a Vulnerable Sector Check to the school where the office will record that it has been completed.
Once we confirm your CRC/VSC is negative, we will then provide information on volunteer training you are to complete.
Once you are done with the volunteer training, you are to send the completion certificate to the secretary.
The last step is to fill out the volunteer emergency contact form.
The Criminal Records Check and a Vulnerable Sector Check remain valid if a volunteer completes a declaration form each year. If the declaration form is not completed, then a new Criminal Records Check and a Vulnerable Sector Check must be initiated.
